Itinerant Music Programme
Students at CHS have the opportunity to learn an instrument at school under the tuition of our experienced and qualified itinerant music teachers. Lesson are held once a week for 30mins in small groups of 2 – 4 students.
Places on their programme are limited as the Ministry of Education allocates funding for a set number of hours for each school. All students are welcome to apply for lessons but priority will be given to students taking NCEA Music, followed by students taking Year 10 Music as well as those who are participating in a music department group. Students who are accepted for the programme are expected to maintain good attendance and practice at home in between lessons. Any students who miss out initially will be on a waiting list and contacted when a space becomes available.
Instruments available for hire: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Violin, Cello. The cost to hire an instrument for a term is $30.00 (Term 1, 2 and 3)
