Good morning everyone,
Just a couple notice from us this morning about the disruption to CHS opening hours next week for a Paid Union Meeting and two Teacher Only Days.
We have 3 days next week where the school is required to close early or be closed for the day.
On 29thNovember the school will close at 12:10pm for a Paid Union Meeting. This is a contractual provision under the teachers’ employment agreement and is being used to discuss the most recent employment offer from the government. We will supervise students who remain onsite. They need to sign in at the student office if they are remaining onsite and we will give them instructions then about the afternoon. Buses will still operate at normal times.
On the 1stand 2nd of December we are closed for instruction. This is another legal provision that was agreed in the last employment contract. The time was provided for by the Ministry of Education to enable staff to focus on their preparations for the NCEA changes. We were given a window of dates to choose from across a week and opted for the dates that coincide with Fieldays to hopefully reduce the overall disruption.
I want to apologise for the disruption and thank you for your ongoing support.
